SHAPE PA is proud to advocate on the local, state, and national levels for quality health and physical education.

What Is Advocacy?

Advocacy is simple: educating others and sharing your voice to support a cause.

For health and physical educators, advocacy means championing quality health and physical education, building understanding, and creating support among students, families, administrators, school boards, and communities.

Effective advocates:

  • Recognize the importance of their role.

  • Communicate with confidence and purpose.

  • Stay informed on current issues, legislation, and state and federal requirements.

  • Build relationships and partnerships that strengthen the profession.

  • Represent health and physical education with professionalism in every setting.

Why It Matters
In a rapidly changing educational landscape, health and physical educators must stand together with one voice to ensure every student has access to quality health and physical education.
