We Need You! We’re very excited to have two FULL days of sessions this year! We’re looking for presenters to fill our schedule for the 2024 State Conference. We would love for you to share your expertise and be a part of our amazing lineup. Meet our 2024 Headline Presenters

Ben Holden

Based in the UK, Ben Holden is an influential educator in secondary education, known for his expertise in GCSE (High School) Physical Education and his role as an AQA moderator. His innovative approach to PE and experience with international projects like Darfur United at the VIVA Nationless World Cup in Iraq underscore his unique perspective. Ben is also the author of "Wanna Teach PE" and runs the globally recognized Twitter account @WannaTeachPE

Dr. Cara Grant

Cara Grant (she/her) is currently the PreK-12 supervisor for adapted physical education, health, and physical education in Montgomery County Public Schools Maryland, the 14th largest school district in the nation with 211 schools. She coordinates the masters degree with certification in physical education (MCERT) program at University of Maryland College Park. She has an Ed.D. in educational leadership with a focus on curriculum and instruction; masters degree in curriculum and instruction; and undergraduate degree in kinesiology. She started her career in middle school APE, health and physical education following the footsteps of her dad. Cara has served and supported SHAPE America president, SHAPE America Board of Directors, SHAPE Maryland, district and national organization goals through service, providing training, Twitter Chats (@CaraGrant11), coaching, mentoring, and as a contributing author in various resources and book- Intersectionality in Health Education Intersectionality (Human Kinetics 2025). Her passion for APE, Health, and PE have caused her to focus on equity enabling her to serve on the EDI podcast and present on various topics in APE, Health, and PE nationally. She lives in Maryland with her spouse and four sons (Isaiah, Mike, Reuben, and Bryce) where she enjoys volunteering with local organizations. She enjoys reading and playing and laughing with her family including her cats and dogs. 

Scott Williams

Scott Williams is the founder/owner of Camp4Real and taught elementary physical education at Meriwether Lewis School for 15 years and high school summer PE for six years. He was a winner of the 2011 Golden Apple Award, the 2013 VAHPERD Elementary PE Teacher of the Year, and the 2015-16 VAHPERD and SHAPE Southern District Dance Teacher of the Year. Scotty was also honored as a National Healthy School Hero by Action for Healthy Kids in 2017 and was named to the 2019 class of Charlottesville’s Finest by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. He is also a presenter and keynote speaker at physical education conferences across the nation and is the US Coordinator for Omnikin!

Chip Candy

Chip Candy taught Health, Wellness, and Physical Education in the Medford Township (NJ) School system for 37 years. He coached soccer, cross country, track and field at every level from Pre-K, through college. He is presently an Adjunct Professor, joyfully teaching H/PE majors at Cairn University in Langhorne, PA. Chip is a former SHAPE America (AAHPERD/NASPE) Middle School Physical Education Teacher of the Year, a NJAHPERD Honor Award recipient, and he has presented at over 500 conferences and PDs throughout the US, Mexico, and China. Chip has a master’s degree in Adventure Education from Plymouth University and Project Adventure. It is truly an honor to be a presenter at the SHAPE PA Conference this year! Thank You!
